Remote desktops
This is an operating system installed on a server in which several users can work simultaneously under different accounts. A remote desktop does not differ in appearance and functionality from a traditional desktop, the only difference is that the applications and files are not on the local computer, but on the server. This model of desktop organization is also known as “virtual desktop”, “cloud desktop” or DaaS for short.
You connect to the remote desktop over the Internet using a secure RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) channel. Internet speed of 1 Mbit/s is enough for comfortable work. Modern operating systems (Windows, MacOS) have a built-in client for accessing the remote desktop, so there is no need to install additional software to connect to your workplace. You just enter your login and password.
Who needs remote desktops
- Companies with several offices and branches.
- Companies with a large internal document flow.
- Companies with remote workers.
- Companies which need centralized control over employees’ work.
Advantages of remote desktops
Unified information space. Employees will be able to work together in a single application, edit documents at the same time, and make changes to databases. No need to send files via email. Working in the cloud reduces confusion over document versions and makes document management more efficient.
Mobility. Your employees will be able to connect to their desktop not only from a computer in the office, but also in any other place – at home, on the road, on vacation, from any device – laptop, tablet or smartphone. All you need is an Internet connection. This is convenient if your employees frequently work away or remotely.
Control. All actions on desktops are recorded in the system. A user with administrator rights can view the desktops of employees in real time. You can create different user groups with different rights, for example, prohibit copying or editing files. You can fully control the work of employees who have access to confidential information.
Switch to remote desktops and your employees will have more freedom and you’ll have more control.
